So we have all dreamed of being called up on the stage for “The Price is Right” haven’t we? On a girl’s trip in January we went to The Price is Right and had a BLAST, but alas, none of us made it on stage. It was a great time but we stood no chance. With a whole new way to play you weren’t randomly brought on stage So, when we went BACK on the Utopia a few weeks later I was PREPARED. These were the things I did differently that got me from ending in 476th place to first place!
- 1. Get there EARLY WITH A FULLY CHARGED PHONE!
- * In order to play this version you need your cell phone and pay a fee. While anyone can come and watch the show, if you want the chance to be on stage and win prizes you have to pay 15.00. They do have other options where you pay more, but all that does is increase your chances of winning the car at the end and NOT your chances of getting on stage. So my advice is pay the 15 (it gets charged to your stateroom), make sure your phone is charged, and be ready to play.
- 2. To get on stage for showcase showdown you need to BE FAST!
- * Every game they will put up a prize and you will bet on it. The closest and FASTEST bidder to the right price gets on stage to play various classic Price is Right games. However, even if you aren’t the fastest for that particular game you are still in the overall rankings. If a prize comes up you need to have that number in with a second or two. Honestly, my advice is DO NOT WORRY ABOUT BEING RIGHT. Just pick a quick number between 100-500 dollars and get it in as fast as possible. Better to be wrong and FAST then slow and right. This was how I quickly moved up the leaderboard.
- 3. BETTER TO BID LOW THAN HIGH
- * Now I don’t know the algorithm of how it works but I can tell you this much. The first time on my bids were high and I lived in the high scores group most of the show. So this time I went with the lowball strategy. ALL of my bids were lower instead of higher. And that made a massive difference, especially in the CLIFFHANGER game at the end which ultimately determined that I would get to get on stage for the finale!
- 4. KEEP YOUR BIDS IN THE 100-500 RANGE
- * My dad bid about 900 on something and then his chances were shot from the beginning. For those big prizes you have to get in quick I’ve played twice now and they have been in the 150-500 range so I’d keep all your bids in that family of numbers. Also, lots of the winning numbers were whole numbers so no need to get fancy with 439, a solid 440 will have a better chance of getting it on the nose.
- 5. Remember, like with all game shows, LUCK is the biggest factor of all!
- While ultimately I know my strategies got me into the top 2, there were some elements that were strictly lucky. In the punch em game you pick random numbers that may or may not be high numbers. I was lucky and got the 500 dollar punch. This makes a massive difference, but the great thing about luck is that you all have that same chance so pick your lucky numbers and have fun!
- So, ultimately, while these tips cannot guarantee you will get to go up and spin the wheel they will MOST CERTAINLY get you higher up. Also, there are prizes for everyone whose total ends up in the top 20 so this will most certainly make your chances better! Let me know ANY questions you have to help you be the next contestant on The Price is Right!
